Day 21 - Mon 2 Dec: Singapore

Fine and mainly sunny in the morning with an afternoon thunderstorm (sounds like a stuck record) 25 to 33 deg Walk: 25 km My last full day in Singapore so I’ve got to make the best of it. Two more places I wanted to visit were the National Art Gallery and Arab Street, where as a young (19-year-old) infantryman I used to go to buy better kit than the Army issued us. Most of the gear the Army issued us in the late 1960s was leftovers from WWII. My early morning walk this morning got a little extended (just over 7km) as I kept finding interesting stuff “just around the corner”. Singapore has got to be one of the best pedestrian cities in the world, it’s clean, (squeaky) safe and it’s interesting. Yes, it’s got its ugly glass and concrete high rise but intermingled with them are some nice old colonial stuff and old Asian architecture. Called into Starbucks for coffee and a little cup of chia “porridge,” which set me back over A$14; maybe a tad more expensive than home but not much. Back ...
