Day 3 - Thu 14 Nov: Phuket
Fine and sunny 25 to 32 deg, pretty much the same
everyday this time of the year.
Walk: 22+ km
Although I know I can sleep in if I wish I was still up at sparrows this
morning. Had another lovely breakfast on the deck and then went for a little
walk, it ended up about 20 km worth. A little lumpy in places so I was glad
when I finally arrived at my destination, Patong Beach. Caught up with my old
roommate from previous tours and opponent from cycle-racing days, Kev from
Canberra. He showed me around the big Smoke of Patong with its huge shopping malls
and tourist traps everywhere. Glad I chose sleepy Surin Beach. Had a Starbucks
coffee ($8.50 each!) and I then caught the Smartbus home ($7.50 for 40-minute
ride) compared to nearly $40 by taxi.
Had a nice seafood lunch/dinner at a restaurant on the beach. Walked that off
and then relaxed in my room.
Pedestrians are a rare sight here and don't get much room to walk
Local fishing boats
Condos everywhere
Cheeky fellow on a scooter
A roadside prayer site
A place where you can swim with an elly
Patong Beach proudly flying our flag
A colourful concrete monster
Pink seems to be a popular colour
Apparently a famous walking street
A cruise ship parked up for a visit
Another sunset
